We talk about our daily agenda, enjoy reading a favorite storybook, and delve into new theme-related lessons each week. Our circle time is enhanced by weekly enrichments such as Spanish, Music and more who add to the excitement. Building a strong sense of community, we focus on welcoming and getting to know our classmates through songs and group activities. Throughout the day, teachers orchestrate projects of all kinds to spark curiosity and conversation.
Our daily routine strives to support children’s growing need for independence. They learn to take responsibility for their community environment by putting their own things into their cubbies, clearing up toys when transitioning, and washing their paint brushes after creating art.
Center time allows children to interact, socialize, and problem-solve with their friends. During this time, they get to explore different learning materials carefully chosen by their teachers to develop coordination, collaboration, creativity, and more.
Art experiences allow for individual expression and introduces a wide variety of materials with which to create, while science center provides hands-on ways for tinkering, observing, exploring, and experimenting. Literacy activities, including reading and writing, are integrated into daily routines through storytime, fine motor skill exercises, and language group activities like teacher-led charts and daily pocket charts.
While outdoors, relationships bloom while vocabularies grow. While observing and tending to our school gardens, teachers ask thoughtful questions, link new ideas to what’s already familiar, and offer choices to encourage development. Valuable learning happens during sharing, waiting turns, having conversations, and meeting one’s daily needs- all part of creating a caring community focused on each child’s individual growth.
