We are thrilled to be a part of their journey as they explore, create, and grow in our vibrant classrooms. At this stage, our main objective is to ignite a passion for learning in each child and to equip them with the skills needed to become responsible citizens and eager learners. By combining hands-on exploration with structured educational activities, we are able to tap into each child’s natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge.
Step inside one of our Pre-K classrooms and you’ll witness a bustling hive of activity! You may see children using many materials, such as blocks and even plastic cups to build stable structures through experimentation. In another area, children dramatize a restaurant complete with an ordering pad, menus, play cash registers, and play food to serve. In our Art Center, a young artist may be found using paint and an easel to create a masterpiece or explore color. Some children practice patterning and play alphabet games while others sit with a friend sharing a familiar book.
In small groups, we work toward the development of skills necessary for the introduction of handwriting and early math concepts through interactive lessons, songs, games, and one-on-one guidance. But it’s not all about academics – we also place a strong emphasis on expanding essential social skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and empathy. Our classrooms provide opportunities for children to develop important skills in taking turns, cooperating with one another, and learning to respect the ideas and feelings of others.
When our preschoolers embark on their journey into the “big world,” we want them to look back on Country Day School with fond memories while being prepared to move forward successfully. Join us on this exciting journey as we watch our young learners blossom into the leaders of tomorrow!
